Some venues are built for the camera, and Inimitable is one of them. Set in the Cradle of Humankind outside Johannesburg, its considered, design-led spaces and quiet drama give a wedding a sense of occasion the moment you arrive. Filming Mikaeel and Areen's day there was a genuine pleasure.
We filmed the way we always do, unobtrusively and editorially, letting the architecture and the day share the frame. A space this deliberate rewards restraint, so we looked for the real moments, the glances, the stillness, the joy, and let the venue hold them rather than compete with them.
From the getting-ready hours to the celebration that followed, our job was to catch the day honestly and cut it with care, so that years from now it still feels exactly like the day it was.
