Not every wedding needs a dramatic destination to become a beautiful film. Dennis and Andrea married in Pretoria, and what carried their day was not spectacle but feeling, the people, the warmth, the real moments that make a wedding theirs.
We filmed it the way we film everywhere, unobtrusively and editorially, holding the quiet as well as the joy and letting the day lead. Our job was to be almost invisible and to catch it honestly, so that what remains is the truth of the day rather than a performance of it.
It was graded and cut by hand over the weeks that followed, refined until it flowed the way the day actually did.
