There are few settings in South Africa that carry a wedding the way Boschendal does. One of the oldest estates in the Cape Winelands, its Cape Dutch gables, oak-lined avenues and vineyards rolling toward the mountains gave Sarah and Moboloji's day a sense of occasion before a single vow was spoken.
We filmed this celebration the way we film everywhere, unobtrusively and editorially, letting the estate and the day share the frame. The Winelands light is generous in the late afternoon, and we shot for it, the warmth on the vines, the long shadows across the lawns, the quiet between the big moments.
From the getting-ready hours to the last dance, our job was to hold the day honestly and let it breathe. A wedding here does not need to be exaggerated; it needs to be seen clearly and cut with care, so that years from now it still feels exactly like the day it was.
